So last week while I was writing my last blog, I was at an internet cafe when I heard a  noise and the man  behind the desk said to some one next to me that it wasn't safe outside.  And I was confused I thought that the man was just joking because there has never been a time that I have not been safe in Manzini (the town we live in in Swaziland).  But then another man came out of the back room with keys and locked us in the building and turned off the lights! I was so surprised and I had no idea what was going on.
Well apparently  there had been a lay-off of hundreds of factory workers who were striking because there pay was so low and some times they wouldn't even get payed for months.  Since all those people weren't going to work any more there were a ton less people taking public transportation any more and many people were unhappy.  So unannounced to us last Monday the nations' public transportation workers held a strike as an
act of protest and solidarity.  This soon was followed by a mob of angry men that were rioting.
Thankfully It was pretty much all contained to one section of town and I was never in any real danger, but it was a very serious thing, windows got smashed, a person was getting beaten, and the riot police shot rubber bullets into mobs and several people that got badly hurt.
The next day things were all better and the government is in negotiations with the factory workers and public transportation people and all has been calm.  But things are still not over people are still
not happy and there is tension in the air. the Public transportation people have set a deadline on the negotiations and that is the 28th of March. If the people's demands haven't been met by then they will strike again and chances are it will be worse.  SO PLEASE PRAY FOR SWAZILAND!!! and that all the negotiations will be done by Friday and that the people of Swaziland will be satisfied.  If conditions were to deteriorate to much more we may have to leave Swaziland early and go to South Africa  = (
As far a safety is concerned do not  be alarmed  we are taking every precaution toward safety and we are in the hands of The Almighty God, and we find our refuge there.
Grace and Peace be yours in abundance.
